SQL Server 2025

Now Available for Eligible Sage 200 Customers

SQL Server 2025 is now available for eligible Sage 200 customers, subject to Sage 200 version compatibility. This latest release provides access to ongoing support, updates and new features, helping businesses maintain a secure and reliable database environment and extends the lifecycle of your SQL installation.

What Happens Next?

Where a customer is eligible, Sage will issue a customer-specific notification to us containing all the relevant information and licence terms along with the required download link.

Customers will also be contacted directly by Sage and advised to speak with their Sage Business Partner before planning any upgrade, so don’t worry if you are contacted directly by Sage.

The Role of PKF Smith Cooper as your Sage Business Partner

As your Sage 200 Business Partner, we are responsible for assessing whether SQL Server 2025 is suitable for your current environment (i.e. version of Sage 200) and assisting with installation where required.

Before any upgrade takes place, several factors should be reviewed, including:

  • Your current Sage 200 version – if you would like to confirm what version of Sage 200 you are currently using, please use our free upgrade checker here
  • Sage 200 system requirements relevant to your version
  • Existing SQL Server infrastructure and upgrade requirements

Important Note: SQL Server 2025 will only be offered and installed if it is fully compatible with both the Sage 200 version in use and the wider IT environment with any given customer.

Why Staying on a Supported SQL Version Matters

Keeping SQL Server on a supported release helps ensure your business continues to benefit from the latest updates, technical support and product enhancements. It also helps reduce security, compliance and operational risks that can arise from running outdated or unsupported software.

By working closely with PKF Smith Cooper Systems, you can ensure any upgrade is planned correctly, delivering a smooth transition while maintaining the performance, security and reliability of your Sage 200 solution. Installing SQL Server 2025 will also extend the lifecycle of your current installation.

With that in mind, we would like to remind you of changes to Sage’s distribution of SQL Runtime licences as the deadline of 31st July 2026 has now passed.

As a reminder, existing maintenance agreements will stay valid until the end of the current term but won’t renew after 31 July 2026.

Important Note: Once your SQL maintenance with Sage expires this does not mean your SQL is immediately invalid, therefore there is no requirement to upgrade it straight away. It simply means that the next time you do choose to upgrade your Sage 200 system, you will need to source this from normal Microsoft distribution, not from Sage as previous.
