If you’re searching for Sage Pay and can’t seem to find it anymore, it’s because the service no longer operates under that name. In this article, we explain what happened to Sage Pay and what this means for your business.
What changed?
Sage Pay was a payment processing service owned by Sage between 2006 and 2020. It helped small to medium-sized businesses accept payments online, over the phone and in-person. At the end of 2020, Sage announced the sale of Sage Pay to Elavon, and it was rebranded as Opayo.
Elavon is a leading global payments provider and a subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp. They support businesses of all sizes and operate internationally, bringing a lot of experience and infrastructure to the table.
Opayo works much like Sage Pay did. It allows businesses to take secure online card payments quickly and easily, similar to services like PayPal, but designed with business systems in mind. Opayo also integrates seamlessly with Sage 200, helping streamline the process of taking and reconciling payments.
What does this mean for you?
The functionality and purpose remain very similar, Opayo is simply the new name for Sage Pay. For those using Sage systems, Opayo provides a straightforward way to connect payments with accounting and ERP software, making life a little easier behind the scenes.
To take card payments using Opayo, you need to subscribe to Opayo and configure it with your Sage 200.
