MRGE can’t be used without technical expertise; therefore, a developer is required to set up and manage the system. They would need to create and configure the integration, as well as ensure that the data is sent in the correct format and mapped to the corresponding fields in Sage 200.
WIRE
On the other hand, WIRE enables data to be synchronised between Sage 200 and other external systems at set intervals, such as every 10 mins or every hour.

Example: Shopify and Sage 200 Integration
Let’s look at how MRGE and WIRE work with a real-world example – integrating Sage 200 with Shopify.
MRGE: When the customer places an order on your Shopify site, MRGE allows Shopify to push the order data (including customer details, order items, pricing etc.) immediately into Sage 200. This updates the inventory, creates invoices and ensures the Sales Ledger is populated right away.
WIRE: Using WIRE, the Shopify order data is transferred to Sage 200 periodically, such as every hour. After each scheduled synchronisation, any new order details, customer information and inventory updates are transferred to Sage 200.
