Meet our Senior Software Consultant, Ian Steane, who is celebrating 10 years at PKF Smith Cooper Systems!

Here at PKF SCS, we value each and every employee, and we are proud that we have so many long-standing colleagues.

Congratulations on 10 years with us, Ian!

How did you come to join PKF SCS?

I have worked alongside Chris (Managing Director) and Craig (Project Services Director) for over 25 years. When Chris and Craig moved to PKF SCS, I was pleased to accept the invitation to join as well. You spend a lot of time at work and a good relationship with your managers and coworkers is very important to me.

How has the company changed during your time?

The biggest change has to be the number of clients and staff we have taken on, as there were only 12 of us when I joined. The other difference has to be as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown. Obviously during lockdown we had to conduct training remotely, but it has stuck around and most people are happy with it when the situation is appropriate. I don’t miss spending as much time sat in traffic jams!

What has been your favourite moment in the last 10 years?

My favourite moment has to be when we won the first ‘Partner of the Year’ award. It was a fantastic achievement that we accomplished very early on, with a smaller team compared to the other partners. Seeing that repeated as the company has grown is a massive accomplishment for everyone.

What’s the best part about being at PKF SCS?

It has to be the staff. The management team have certainly looked after me. In addition, everyone else is a pleasure to work with. Everyone genuinely wants to do the best for the company and our clients. Additionally, everyone gets along socially as well. I am looking forward to running on the pitch with a cold sponge and a bag of oranges at half time at the upcoming intercompany football match.

What are you looking forward to in the next 5 years?

I am looking to retire! I have changed my role recently and I am now mentoring and training the other consultants. Over the 25+ years I’ve worked with Sage, I have gained a lot of knowledge and passing this on to the next generation is a new challenge. When I do get put out to pasture in 5 years time, I can say it was a job well done.

Thank you to Ian for sparing the time to answer our questions and Congratulations!
