PKF Smith Cooper Systems Celebrates Newcastle Office Refurbishment

Three years after expanding their Newcastle space, PKF Smith Cooper Systems has completed a refurbishment of its office within Metropolitan House, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued growth and commitment to the North East. 

Since its establishment in 2018, the Newcastle office has evolved from a modest meeting space into a thriving hub, now home to several key departments including Development, Client Services, Support, and Consultancy. 

The newly modernised space reflects the company’s dedication to fostering long-term relationships, with customers, suppliers and potential employees, and delivering exceptional service across the region. Designed to encourage collaboration, the refreshed interior provides a welcoming and functional environment for staff. 

The first phase of the refurbishment included a new layout and state-of-the-art desks from ACI (Advanced Commercial Interiors). While phase 2 will focus on decorating the space with new storage and artwork. The previous furniture was put to good use and donated to St Oswald’s Hospice, a charitable hospice rooted in the North East. The hospice is committed to improving the care and quality of life of their patients and families through ongoing research, innovation, service transformation and improvement. 

To commemorate the refurbishment, PKF Smith Cooper Systems hosted a celebratory lunch for all Newcastle-based staff. In keeping with the company’s “Good Guys” ethos, the organisers actively sought to support local businesses for the lunch catering (Deep North and Sweet and Fair), reinforcing PKF SCS’s commitment to supporting the local community. 

Regarding the office refurbishment managing director, Chris Smith, commented “Whilst we understand that hybrid working is the new normal, we still love our physical office spaces and work hard to make them the best they can be for our team. The refurbishment of our Newcastle office is the natural next step for us, as more and more colleagues join us in the North East and we expand our presence in Sage’s heartland territory” 

Furthermore, Newcastle based staff member Sandra Wallace (Client Services Manager) added “The new desks have given us more space to work comfortably, and increasing their number means more of us can get in and make it easier for us to collaborate. Surprisingly, adding more desks has made the office feel more spacious and welcoming. It was fantastic to celebrate over lunch with the team and even better that we got to support local businesses in the process. We don’t all get together often so it was lovely to see everyone and strengthen connections and team spirit. I’m looking forward to the finishing touches which will include additional storage and company branded artwork, which will really enhance the environment.”
