Home | News & Updates | Company Latest | PKF SCS Celebrates World Book Day

World Book Day is an annual event celebrated in March, with the main objective to promote the love of reading and to highlight the importance of books in our lives. The day is marked by activities that encourage reading, such as book fairs, storytelling sessions, and book exchanges.

It’s no secret that our team at PKF SCS loves a good book! So, to celebrate World Book Day 2025, we’ve asked our team to share their favourite reads, whether it’s something they’ve already read this year, or a series they always go back to, here’s the team’s top picks!

Priya: The Daevabad Triology by S.A Chakraborty

Priya, our Marketing Manager, loves to read, so when asked about her favourite book it was hard to choose just one! She said her all time favourite books are ‘The Daevabad Triology’ By S. A. Chakraborty.

The series includes ‘The City of Brass’, ‘The Kingdom of Copper’ and ‘The Empire of Gold’. The fantasy series is set in the bustling markets of eighteenth century Cairo, and follows Nahri, a street-smart con artist, who discovers her magical heritage.

Jess: The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods

Jess, our Marketing and Content Assistant, recommends The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods, which she read last year. She said:

“If you’re looking for a mystery novel that is easy reading, this is a great book to add to your list!”

The magical story follows Opaline, Martha and Henry, who have been the side characters in their own lives, but when a vanishing bookshop casts its spell, these three unsuspecting strangers will discover that their own stories are every bit as extraordinary as the ones found in the pages of their beloved books.

Victoria: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Victoria, our Client Services Director, had a hard decision choosing just one book to recommend! She landed on her favourite book from recent years: ‘The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

The historical drama novel follows the life of Evelyn Hugo, a Hollywood movie star, who tells her story of her rise to fame, including her seven marriages.

Hope: Unruly by David Mitchell

Hope, our Sage 200 Account Manager, managed to read 57 books last year and said a few stood out in particular!

“I love a mix of genres so my first pick from the last year was definitely ‘Unruly: A History of England’s Kings and Queens’ by David Mitchell”.

Hope chose to listen to this as an audiobook and said it was a “really fun way of learning the history of English Kings & Queens!”.

Her overall theme last year came in the form of cowboys & author, Elsie Silver. “Brilliant books to escape reality when everything seems grey and cold. It’s always hot and sunny at the ranch!”

Christie: Shadow of the Apt Series by Adrian Tchaikovsky

Christie, our Sage Support Manager, said her go-to series is the ‘Shadows of the Apt Series’ by Adrian Tchaikovsky. She said:

“I probably reread it every year!”

The fantasy series consists of 10 books, and is set in the world of the kinden, a human race who share the traits and abilities of the giant insects which roam their world.

At PKF SCS, we believe in the power of reading to inspire innovation and personal growth. By sharing our team’s favourite books, we encourage you to add one of these to your next reading list and read something new this World Book Day!
