Discover the ease of migrating data from Sage 200 Manufacturing to Cim 200 Manufacturing
The Cim 200 Manufacturing Data Migration Tool provides a quick and easy handover of Work Orders from Sage 200 Manufacturing to Cim 200 Manufacturing.
In this Tip of the Week, we discuss what is involved during data migration to Cim 200 Manufacturing.
Additionally, you can watch the short video here to better your understanding.
Cim 200 Manufacturing Migration Tool
When migrating from Sage 200 Manufacturing, a migration tool is used to import your historic and current works orders. The migration process can import all works orders at any status, regardless of whether they are allocated, part allocated, issued, completed, etc.
The ability to migrate works orders at different stages allows you to set a firm date to move your data over to Cim 200 Manufacturing. For example, at the close of business on Friday the migration tool can be ran, so on Monday morning, all your works orders are readily available within Cim 200 Manufacturing. The migration is simple and quick with clear end and start dates.
Once all the data has been moved over to Cim 200 Manufacturing, Sage 200 Manufacturing will no longer be required to process works orders.
As a comparison, the transition to fully utilise alternative manufacturing solutions for works orders, such as Sicon Manufacturing, is not as quick and clear-cut. Unlike Cim 200 Manufacturing, Sicon Manufacturing requires you to complete and close all existing works orders. This means Sage 200 Manufacturing may still be required for processing works orders for weeks or months until they are all complete/closed, and users would need to move between the two modules.
Running the Migration Tool
The data migration tool is ran by a consultant. The tool will show its progress as it processes through the works orders within your Sage 200 Manufacturing system.
At the end of the migration, the tool advises how long the process took to complete and how many total records have been migrated. Additionally, it will provide you with a log file, detailing each step of the migration process.

The migration process is quick, taking only a few minutes to run. However, this can vary dependant on the volume and quality of the records being migrated. If you encounter any issues, such as data corruption, abandoned Bill of Materials or cost discrepancies, these will need to be resolved before the migration can be complete.
Overall, migrating your works orders with the Cim 200 Manufacturing migration tool is a straightforward, quick process, which allows you to move forward with one system.
