The answers you need, all in one place

Find quick answers to common queries about Sage 200.

  • Is Sage 200 an ERP system?

Sage 200 is an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solution that brings together financials, Customer Relationship Management and Business Intelligence. Whilst Sage is widely recognised as a best in class accounts package for the UK SME market, Sage 200 offers business solutions from core financials, to commercial modules (Stock SOP, POP, Warehouse Barcoding etc) to full production control.

  • What is the difference between Sage 200 Standard and Professional?

The key difference is that Sage 200 Standard is cloud-based, whereas Sage 200 Professional is designed to be hosted on-premises, though it can be hosted in the cloud if you wish. There are also additional features in Sage 200 Professional which may be particularly important to those in the manufacturing and distribution industry. Compare both solutions side by side here.

  • What is the difference between Sage 50 and Sage 200?

Sage 50 is aimed more at small businesses and start-ups, whereas Sage 200 is much more scalable, with many more features, especially across Stock, Purchase Order Processing and Sales Order Processing, making it better suited for small to medium businesses.

  • What is the difference between Sage 200 and Sage Intacct?

Sage 200 can be cloud-based or hosted on-premises and offers a lot of functionality suited to stock-heavy businesses, such as those in the manufacturing, wholesale and distribution industries. Sage Intacct is a cloud native solution with best in class financial modules, which are particularly beneficial for those with complex financial processes, multiple entities and/or cross border processing.

  • Is Sage 200 cloud based?

Sage 200 can be cloud-based or on premises, the choice is all yours!

    • Sage 200 Standard – cloud-based
    • Sage 200 Professional – can be cloud-based or hosted on-premises
  • Is Sage 200 MTD compliant?

Sage 200 is fully compliant with the Making Tax Digital (MTD) legislation for both single and group entities. If you’re using an older version of Sage 200, you may need to check with your Account Manager to see if you need to upgrade to a newer version or purchase a stand alone MTD module.

  • Is Sage 200 being phased out?

No, there are no plans for Sage 200 to be phased out or retired. There are currently over 7000 live sites in the UK. Each year there are new versions released and older versions will move to extended support and/or end of support as per any other business software lifecycle. Check which versions are end of support here.
