Sage Intacct 2024 R3 is here and we’ve reviewed it so you don’t have to!

In this release, there are several new or updated functions across Accounts Payable, Inventory Control, Purchasing and more – giving you the detail you need from your data, and making your daily tasks even more efficient.

Keep reading to learn about our top 5 release features and information regarding your next steps.

Please note: This article is specifically referring to the United Kingdom release. If you’re based in another country, you may not have access to all the features mentioned here.

1. Void a payment directly from the Posted payments page

You’re now able to void any payment from the Posted payments page, rather than relying on multiple different methods depending on the payment type used.

As you can see from the screenshot, this newest release puts a Void payments link on the Posted payments page. This lets you void payments from a more convenient location, without needing any Cash management permissions.

Note: The Void link won’t appear for transactions that have been voided before. You can also still void transactions from the Cheque register or Bank register report if you wish.

2. Unapply credits in Posted payments

This is another new feature that comes under Accounts Payable. It’s also a feature that was originally suggested by Sage Intacct users like you.

You can now remove credits from Posted payments, if the credits were applied without an associated payment. This is particularly useful if you need to switch the credit that a payment was applied to.

This includes credits of all types, such as:

  • Advances
  • Debit memo adjustments (supplier credits)
  • Negative AP purchase invoices
  • Negative line items applied from one AP purchase invoice to another

Credit entries themselves have also been simplified in this release. Now you’re able to see them in Posted payments – where they show as a separate line item with an amount of 0.

You can also see credit entry details in greater depth via the new Credits Applied tab. You can drill down into details just by clicking the Credit number.

Note: Unapplying a credit also makes that credit available to be applied to other AP purchase invoices.

3. Usage insights

This completely new tool gives you more ways to understand your data and, as a result, make informed decisions.

The usage insights tool gives you pre-built dashboards, separated by tabs, which analyse various metrics:

Overview tab

  • Track active customer and vendor growth
  • Monitor Sage Intacct subscription module activations and user activity, e.g. logins
  • View the number of locations associated with your entities

Customers tab

  • Analyse customer growth trends
  • Visualise customer locations on a map

Suppliers tab

  • Analyse supplier growth
  • Visualise supplier locations on a map
  • Track Accounts Payable AP purchase invoices over time

Additionally, there’s a new API usage tab, containing all the API usage information you’ll have seen in previous releases.

4. Automated transaction matching (early adopter only)

With this feature, you can create draft transactions from incoming PO purchase invoices, and match them to existing purchase transactions all within Sage Intacct – using the power of artificial intelligence (AI).

This means reduced duplications and errors, and more control over how incoming purchasing documents map to existing source transactions.

Based on how you define this after a one-time setup, Sage Intacct will match incoming PO purchase invoices to transactions, using AI to detect the supplier. It also understands different formats for dates, names, and addresses.

You can review draft transactions it creates, making corrections before you post. These corrections are fed back to the AI machine to help improve it, gradually reducing the amount of manual work for you to do after the fact.

5. Enhanced reporting options

This Sage Intacct release has also further improved its reporting in other ways.

You can now include the date a GL entry was entered, and any transactions which do not have a corresponding quantity or value entry, in your reports.

There have also been new columns added to three specific reports: Transactions Posting to the GL reports, Inventory Valuation reports, and Running Average Cost reports.

Transactions Posting to the GL and Inventory Valuation reports: Creation date column, giving insight into any backdated transactions (i.e. reflecting a different date from the transaction’s document date).

Running Average Cost report: Unmatched column, finding transactions without a match and displaying Yes if there is no corresponding transaction.

Do you need to do anything?

Good news! There are no actions required as updates will be automatically applied when you log in. Occasionally, some features will have permissions which need to be turned on, so if there is something you can’t see, you’ll need to go and check your permissions in Company > Admin > Users > Roles > Permissions.

Our favourite feature from this release

In case you were interested, we’re sharing what our favourite feature is from this release. This time it’s the new way to void payments that we mentioned earlier.

As our Sage Intacct Team Leader, Philippa Leonard points out, “This is one of the enhancements which has originated from customer feedback on the Sage community page. We often get comments that this is a lengthy process so customers should like this enhancement.”
