API technology offers a new way of thinking, allows data to be stored in one place, Sage 200, and enables two-way data queries to happen quickly and efficiently
If you want to integrate Sage 200 with other systems, PKF Smith Cooper Systems can offer you two tools: MRGE and WIRE.

API technology is now becoming an industry standard for software of all sizes as more and more clients replace their legacy file transfer process with a more efficient, secure and future proofed API solution
Many of the Sage 200 sites we currently support integrate Sage with a third party system. These can be anything from an e-commerce website like Magento or WooCommerce to a bespoke commercial system.
Though Sage 200 has a standard import capability using CSV files, for more automated or complex integrations, we utilize our own Sage 200 API.
In the past, integrations used middleware for CSV or XML file transfers. While these methods still work, API technology has become an industry standard due to its efficiency, especially for handling large data volumes or mapping fields from custom applications.
This method of integration is a modern approach, centralizing data in Sage 200 and enabling easy queries for third parties. Unlike the old mass update approach, the API allows interactions with Sage 200 in smaller, more manageable data chunks.
The key premise of these tools is that we have a standard data model ready for import into Sage 200, including the necessary fields and data rules. This model can also update analysis codes and custom fields, ensuring compatibility with your specific project requirements.
MRGE
MRGE is typically used where a third party developer wishes to perform the integration. Typical examples would be a web developer who wishes to post transactions to Sage 200 and pull back delivery or stock information.
In this instance, minimal time is required from our team. They’ll simply deploy the solution and assist with testing as required. This, along with one single monthly cost, provides a much lower price point of entry compared to traditional bespoke development.
WIRE
WIRE is used where there is no third-party developer working with our client. In this case, the PKF Smith Cooper team will either deploy an existing connector or build out a new one.
Examples of work we have previously provided include Shopify, Ebay, Amazon, DPD, Metapack, and DX courier, plus several portals for well known wholesalers.
WIRE can be configured without additional coding, and runs on a pre-defined schedule to import and export data. This makes it easy to use straight out of the box.

API for Sage 200 FAQ's
-
Does Sage 200 have an API?
Yes, Sage 200 has had its own API since 2018. However, the initial scope of the connections was limited and thus not appropriate for many integration scenarios. Whilst more recent releases have expanded the scope a little, it is still very limited and cannot be expanded to include things such as bespoke fields. There are also no standard connectors available, so bespoke work is always required by either the Sage partner or the third party in question.
This is why PKF Smith Cooper Systems (in line with most of the other key Sage Business Partners) have built our own Sage integration tool.
-
Does Salesforce integrate with Sage 200 or Sage 50 ?
Whilst there are no standard connectors in Salesforce for Sage, Salesforce does have its own inbuilt API. There is also a very large marketplace of third party tools available. PKF Smith Cooper Systems has worked with Salesforce partners on numerous occasions to achieve Salesforce integrations to Sage 200 and would be delighted to discuss your project with you.
-
Does Sage CRM integrate with Sage 50?
Yes, you can integrate Sage CRM to Sage 50 utilising a product called QNECT50. This is a proven third party add-on which has recently been accredited by Sage as their Sage CRM integration of choice for Sage 50 (and also for Sage 200 utilising the QNECT200 product). PKF Smith Cooper Systems supply, install and implement this product but you can find out more from our friends at Qmulus Solutions.

Does Sage integrate to Magento ?
Magento integrations are probably the most common integration requested by Sage 200 customers. PKF Smith Cooper Systems has vast experience integrating Sage 200 with Magento. Historically this has been utilising Eureka Data Exchange with their Magento connector. However, as more and more clients move away from “file transfer” we have utilised our own API. No Magento integration is exactly the same, as every client’s website is obviously unique to them. However, the core principles are the same and we have the majority of these end points “good to go”.
-
Does Sage integrate to WooCommerce ?
WooCommerce Sage integration is becoming an increasingly regular request. PKF Smith Cooper Systems has significant experience integrating Sage 200 with WooCommerce. As more and more clients move away from “file transfer” we have utilised our own API but have also implemented bespoke integrations on occasion to fit specific scenarios. No WooCommerce integration is exactly the same, as every client’s website or customer portal is obviously unique to them. However, the core principles are the same and we have the majority of these endpoints “good to go” from previous projects.
