Where to Find Dashboards

First, navigate to:

Applications > Dashboards > Dashboards

This displays a list of existing dashboards which you can edit. To start a new dashboard, click ‘Create’.

Complete the dashboard properties across the 3 tabs:

  • Appearance: Choose the title, number of columns, column width and background colour.
  • Filters: Tick the filters you’d like to enable.
  • Permissions: Choose the users and groups you’d like to include or exclude.

Once you’re happy with all of the properties, click ‘Save’.

My new dashboard now shows in the list. To start adding components to it, click ‘Components’.

The dashboard is currently blank because we haven’t added anything yet. However, along the top you can see the filters and controls.

To add a component click the ‘+’ plus icon.

Select from the following component types:

  • Chart
  • General
  • Performance cards
  • Record
  • Report
  • Smart links

Complete the rest of the details and then click ‘Save’. We’ll run through a few of the types below.

Dashboard Components

Report

Embeds reports in your dashboards.

  • Component: Select the specific report you want to display.
  • Component title: Give it a title.
  • Report view: Choose whether you want to see a snapshot or live data.
  • Dashboard filtering: Allow or prevent filtering.

Here, we’ve added Balance Sheet Detail and P&L Actual Vs Budget reports.

All of the blue text is hyperlinked, so you can click it to view the data in more detail.

Performance Card

Allows you to add KPIs to your dashboard such as total assets, total liability, bank balance, employee headcount etc.

  • Title: Enter a name.
  • Account group: E.g. Cash and Cash Equivalents.
  • Reporting period: E.g. Current month.
  • Show as: Number, percentage or amount with currency.
  • Rounding: Whole number or decimals.
  • Comparison: Compare to prior period.

These are the Cash Balance and Headcount performance cards.

Note: This screenshot was taken from a demo system so it doesn’t have all the data required to display properly.

General

Adds a variety of useful components to the dashboard, such as a list of suppliers, customers, outstanding approvals, or closed thru summary.

  • Component: Select the component.
  • Component title: Give it a title.

As you can see, we’ve added a Calendar and the Closed Thru Summary which shows a list of which books have been closed for which entities and when they were closed.

Smart Links

Build a bank of useful links which take you directly to websites outside of Sage Intacct.

  • Link type: Click or fetch.
  • Component title: Enter a name.
  • Link name: Name the individual links.
  • URL: Add the URL you want to link to.

This is how the smart link looks when it’s added into the dashboard. This one is just a link to our website to show you how it works.

Chart

Adds charts and graphs to your dashboard.

  • Chart type: E.g. Financial chart.
  • Component: E.g. AP Trend – Monthly.
  • Component title: Enter a name.
  • Chart style: Line, bar, pie etc.

Here’s what the AP Trend – Monthly graph looks like now it’s embedded in the dashboard.
