Editing a Dashboard in Sage Intacct

How to Edit a Dashboard in Sage Intacct

The dashboards in Sage Intacct allow you to view multiple reports and components on one screen, making it much more convenient than going in and out of separate reports.

In this week’s tip, we’ll show you how easy it is to build your own personalised dashboards in Sage Intacct.

Where to Find Dashboards

To find dashboards, navigate to:
Applications > Dashboards

For this example, we’ll be looking at the ‘Controller’ dashboard which can be found under the ‘Role-Based’ dropdown.

Tip: To create a new dashboard from scratch, click the green plus icon.

Once you’re in a dashboard, you can use the dropdown near the top left corner to quickly switch to a different dashboard.

Editing Dashboards in Sage Intacct

For dashboards, you have multiple editing options:

  • Apply/clear filters
  • Add components
  • Dashboard settings
  • Clone dashboard
  • Printable view

Each component has similar editing options at the top of each box, allowing you to edit or remove individual components as needed. You can also drag and drop any component to position it where you like.

Dashboard settings

This is where you can tweak the below:

  • Appearance: Number of columns, background colour, etc.
  • Filters: Date range and turn on/off filters – you can select up to 3 filters.
  • Permissions: Allow/deny access for users and groups.

Add component

Here, you choose which components you’d like to add. These are grouped into types, including:

  • General
  • Report
  • Performance cards
  • Smart links
  • Record
  • Chart

We’ll run through a few examples below.

Dashboard Components

Performance cards

These are visual indicators commonly used for KPIs, which give you a quick snapshot of performance.

Start by giving it a title, select the ‘Account Group’ and choose from the rest of the options as needed, then click ‘Save’.

Here’s what the performance cards look like when they’re added into the dashboard.

Tip: These can be filtered individually via the filter icon on the performance card.

General

Under the general option, you can add various general components, such as calendars, message boards and shortcuts.

Select which one you’d like to add from the ‘Component’ dropdown and complete the rest of the options as required. Then, click ‘Save’.

Here’s an example of how the message board and task components look.

These can be really useful for things like month end processing.

Chart

The chart component type allows you to see your data in a more visual format, such as a graph.

Choose which data you want from the ‘Component’ dropdown, then select from a variety of different chart types and styling options.

Once you’re happy with the settings, click ‘Save’ to add it to the dashboard.

Here’s an example of a doughnut chart.

Tip: In your dashoard, you can hover over the segments to see the figures and click for a detailed breakdown of the values.

Report

This is the most popular option, as it allows you to embed any of your reports into your dashboard.

Select the report you’d like to add from the ‘Component’ dropdown, complete the rest of the fields as you require and click ‘Save’.

Here, we’ve added a Profit and Loss report.

Tip: In your dashboard, click the blue headings to drill down for more detailed analysis.

Records

This allows you to add a lists of records, such as AP purchase invoices, credit card transactions and much more.

Select the component, complete the settings how you wish and then click ‘Save’ to add it to your dashboard.

Here, we’ve added ‘Approve journal entries’. There’s nothing to approve in our demo system, but it would list any journal entries awaiting approval.
