Resetting Desktop Settings and Preferences in Sage 200

January 25, 2022

Knowing how to reset your desktop settings and preferences in Sage 200 is extremely useful.

It means that if you ever lose the ability to see a column on a list view, a column within a screen or have any other issues in Sage, you can easily set it back to the default settings.

This Tip of the Week will go through exactly what you need to know and how to do it.

To start go to the Tools option (the cog icon) in the top right-hand corner of Sage 200.

From the subsequent drop down menu choose ‘Preferences’.

You can then choose the option to ‘Reset desktop settings’.

This removes any changes made to the desktop, for example, column choices, and resets the desktop back to the Default values.

Within the same preferences screen you can also:

Set the desktop theme

  • You can set the desktop theme to White, Light or Dark.

By default, Sage 200 opens with a Dark theme. If you change the theme, the change applies when you re-open Sage 200. Theme changes affect the view of the banner, menu and from backgrounds. They do not affect workspaces.

Set the line spacing for desktop lists

  • You can set the Spacing for desktop list rows to Narrow, Normal or Wide.

By default, Sage 200 opens with the Normal spacing. Spacing changes do not affect workspaces.

Hide notifications

  • To stop receiving Save and Delete notifications when you are working in Sage 200, select ‘Disable Save’ and ‘Delete Notifications’.

Note: This does not apply if you are using Excel Reporting from the Self Service web app.

Frequently Asked Questions about Resetting your Desktop Settings and Preferences in Sage 200

I’ve accidentally hidden a column in a list view, will resetting my desktop settings bring it back?

Yes. Resetting your desktop settings removes any changes made to the desktop, such as column choices, and resets everything back to the default values. Bear in mind this will undo all your personalised layout changes, not just the missing column, so it’s worth trying other options first if you only want to restore one thing.

Where exactly do I find the option to reset desktop settings in Sage 200?

Go to the Tools option (the cog icon) in the top right-hand corner of Sage 200, select ‘Preferences’ from the dropdown menu, and you’ll then see the option to ‘Reset desktop settings’

Can I change the look of Sage 200 to something less harsh on the eyes during long working sessions?

Yes! Within the Preferences screen you can set the desktop theme to White, Light, or Dark. By default Sage 200 opens with a Dark theme, and any change you make takes effect when you re-open the application. Theme changes affect the banner, menu, and form backgrounds, but do not affect workspaces

Our finance team works with large transaction lists. Is there a way to make rows easier to read?

Yes, you can adjust the line spacing for desktop list rows to Narrow, Normal, or Wide via the Preferences screen. The default is Normal spacing, though note that spacing changes do not affect workspaces

If I reset my desktop settings, will it affect my colleagues too, or just my own view?

Just yours. Any changes made in Preferences are specific to your individual user account and are remembered each time you log in to Sage. So resetting your desktop won’t touch anyone else’s layout, themes, or column choices, the changes are entirely personal to your login.
