Report Types in Sage Intacct
With more than 150 pre-built reports and infinite possibilities to create custom reports, Sage Intacct has the answer to all your reporting needs.
The range of reports help you to gain the insights you need, exactly how you want to see them. You may be wondering, what exactly are the types of reports in Sage Intacct?
There are 3 main types of reports available as standard: standard application reports, financial reports and custom reports. In this Intacct Insider, we’ll share an overview and example of each one.
1. Standard Application Reports
Sage Intacct comes with standard application reports which are pre-configured and ready to use out of the box. This means you don’t need to build all your reports from scratch.
You can run the reports as they are or modify them with filters, time periods and formats. There are between 10 and 30 available filters, such as accounting period, detail level and dimensional analysis.
The list of standard reports is huge, with specialised reports for each application in Sage Intacct, including:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Cash Management
And much more.
Example: Customer Aging Report
2. Financial Reports
Using the Financial Report Writer in Sage Intacct, you can build reports with financial balances based on account groups which you choose.
The reports provide insights based on financial data and can be expanded by dimensions to give better insight. You can add statistical data, include calculations and use the formatting functions to ensure accurate and complete reports. All of this can be done inside Intacct.
If your company was set up with a QuickStart template, you get a library of financial reports which you can run as they are or configure to suit your requirements. The exact reports will differ based on which QuickStart was used to create your company.
Example: Profit and Loss Detail
3. Custom Reports
In the Custom Report Writer, you can create customised reports using any fields in Sage Intacct, including financial, non-financial or a combination of both.
You get the flexibility to make the reports look exactly how you want them. For example, amending column names, adding calculations, sort order, conditional logic and more. The reports are based on individual records and fields, but the data can also be grouped together if needed.
The Custom Report Writer Wizard is available to walk you through the process step by step. You can also base custom reports on existing standard reports if there’s one which is close to what you need but you want to apply a few tweaks.
Example: shows all PO’s which have not yet been fully applied to an invoice.
All reports can be stored in Intacct, shared with colleagues, scheduled to automatically run or memorised to be run again. You’re also able to control who can view and edit the reports by adjusting the permissions.
Additional Modules, Tools & Dashboards
Account groups and dimensions help you to interact with your data and filter the same report to get the information you need.
There are also reporting modules which require an additional subscription, including:
- Interactive Custom Report Writer (ICRW) which makes it easier for anyone to create reports using drag and drop functionality.
- Interactive Visual Explorer (IVE) which helps you to build interactive visualisations such as pie charts, pivot tables and grid heat maps.
Custom dashboards complement the different types of reports in Sage Intacct, providing a way to access an overview of your performance at a glance. They can be configured to include reports, graphs and links to drill down further into the system for more detail.
