PKF Smith Cooper Systems Celebrates International Women’s Day 2024

It is a day that celebrates the cultural, economic, social, and political achievements of women and it also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

It has its roots, going back to a gathering held over a century ago in 1911, but today, IWD is celebrated around the world.

This day is deemed to be amongst one of the most important days of the year to:

• Raise awareness and educate others about women’s equality
• Celebrate women’s achievements
• Fundraise for women-focused charities
• Call for positive change in empowering and advancing women

Each year, the day has a different theme, providing a framework for people’s activities. 2024’s theme is ‘Inspire Inclusion’ – spotlighting how inclusivity in all areas of life is crucial if we want to achieve gender equality. It emphasises how, by recognizing the perspectives and contributions of women from varied communities and experiences, we can create a more equal world for all women.

Although a report by The World Bank shared that women still make up less than a third of the world’s workforce in technology-related fields, female representation has been positively growing – from 19% in 2019 to 33% at latest count in 2024.
