PKF Smith Cooper Systems, an award-winning Sage business partner based in the East Midlands, has donated £1000 to Leicester-based Twycross Zoo, allowing them to complete work on a new climbing frame in their Primate House.

As Twycross Zoo has been a client of PKF Smith Cooper Systems since 2016, they were the first choice when the company considered local causes to support.

The £1000 donation assisted in the build of a new climbing frame in the open-topped outdoor enclosure at the primate house. PKF Smith Cooper Systems’ donation covered the full cost of the project from the purchase of webbing, screws and tools to contractor work and putting the frame together. It was the final piece Twycross Zoo needed to finish the project. The frame itself is in full view of visiting public and is located in the De Brazza’s monkey outdoor, open-topped enclosure.

PKF Smith Cooper Systems Managing Director Chris Smith said, “We are absolutely delighted to assist our friends at Twycross Zoo with the redevelopment of their open-top De Brazza’s monkey enclosure. Not only have Twycross been a great client for several years, but they also obviously had a really tough time through the pandemic period. Thus, we were only too pleased to assist with the funding for this project. The space looks very cool. It was great to hear how the guys plan to use the habitat to integrate a new male to the group, hopefully leading to some babies by the end of the year, which would be amazing!”

Ashley Pearson, Primate Keeper at Twycross Zoo said “Twycross Zoo has a long-standing reputation for the care that we give to our primates and this donation from PKF Smith Cooper Systems has been used to purchase additional furnishings for our De Brazza’s monkey habitat. As this will help to provide a more complex and exciting environment, our animals will benefit directly and are as appreciative as we are of this generous support”.

Lee Miller, Financial Controller at Twycross Zoo added, “As a Conservation charity, Twycross Zoo is delighted to accept this generous donation from PKF Smith Cooper Systems. As we are in the midst of a challenging economic climate, and with the impact of the pandemic still firmly in our mind, support such as this from one of our trusted long-term partners helps to ensure that we continue to provide a high standard of welfare for our De Brazza’s monkeys. Thank you Chris, Hope, Priya and the team”.
